I am totally breaking the rules, and I totally don't care.

I will probably adapt my script into a firefox extension if it is deemed necessary...

ALSO...
kottke helps put some perspective on the AWESOME (+ overpriced?) sales of the 37signals book. I think the different writer payment models were a missing part of the discussion that we had this afternoon.
AND...
doing things that are intended to piss cops off can sometimes actually get you in trouble with the law.
STILL MORE...

interesting article about record contract math and music copyright law, written (of all people) by Courtney Love:

http://www.jdray.com/Daviews/courtney.html

" Of the 32,000 new [album] releases each year, only 250 sell more than 10,000 copies. And less than 30 go platinum."

manny is kinda funny... I think he just comes off as an ass because he is scatterbrained or has too much on his mind most of the time, but I am really into his internet writing... From a thread on the roboto project board...

First of all, Doug, the $500 you're talking about is in NYC - right? - not in Pittsburgh, with less than 1/20th of a potential audience. And
the $500 isn't for GGGAH, it's a total of the package, including the two other touring bands who are 'dead weight', i.e worth NOTHING, and the draw of GGGAH isn't nearly big enough to cover them.

And as for 'private info', why is it private what a band gets paid?
I don't consider it to be 'omerta'. I'll tell you what I'm paying a band. And if I know, I'll tell you what someone else is paying a band.
People talk all the time about what bands are getting paid on here. It is absurd of you to take me to task for it.

And finally, Pete, as for being 'pissy', I have a right to be in this instance, and if you don't already know why, I will explain it to you in person, not on the net. Because I'm not interested in starting a war on this board - I was really only interested in making one single flippant comment.

ALSO

The roboto board is full of treasures... did you all know that ghostface killa is playing at mr. smalls on sunday night?

Somehow I feel that we would have to be there from 2am - 7am... I don't think I could handle that.

I guess I should have just posted the link to the file in slot 1.

apparently, that ipod video was done internally at microsoft.

also, I just build a pair of jackhammer headphones and they are freeking awesome. Actually, in my case they are airport ground crew headphones, but the same idea. Much more comfortable than the earbuds that I have been using for the last year.

Check out this online magazine, it seems to have very enthusiastic & positive-minded articles about things that are happening in Pittsburgh, culturally & technologically. Haven't had a chance to read it through yet.
