just found out today that i have to go to germany on memorial day evening afternoon. i have to prepare for this trip as well. i'll try to hang out as much as possible, but if i can't, it's because i'm trying to talk ed mcquarrie into doing it instead working really hard. i'm pretty scared by what needs to be done (or maybe just stunned that what I had planned to do in 6 weeks will now have to be done in 2.5), but hopefully it will work out ok.

perfect ice
"Contrary to what you might think, bartenders in Japan consistently take home top honors at global competitions, not because of their flashy antics or strange new concoctions but because there is an intense devotion to making simply the best drink, of which perfect ice is an obvious component."
at partymodepgh2 we only use ice grown on the space shuttle

thanks dood. fingers crossed. i forgot my nice shoes, so i'll be looking awesome with my farm boots.

so is it the same job, but moved? or have you changed jobs? do you go to pirates games for office outings?

Yann posted 8 months ago

yann, dude, your life is so exciting! you should twitter--i'd love just to get a notification every time you cross an international border.

onny posted 8 months ago

same job, different office. Our new office has a cooler by the elevator with free ice cream. Also by order of distance the closest 5 places to get food are:

1. 7-11
2. wendys
3. lindos (greasy spoon, like where possibly the grill guy is smoking)
4. mc donalds
5. peppis (cheesesteaks)

Have not yet been to a pirate game from the new office. Some mornings I have smelled the tailgaters on my drive in though.

FARM BOOTZ. maybe you will touch off an international trend! :D

JonBro posted 8 months ago

speaking of borders, i'm now on the train (with free wifi!) crossing the border from scotland to england. it's not quite an international border (not yet, anyway), but still fun nonetheless.

so we are obviously gonna take a trip to the cupcake place on memorial weekend right? RIGHT!?!

just checking.

re: closest food to jon's new office

I learned on my trip to bergen that 7-11 is all over norway. they are like starbucks in manhattan, at least one on every city block. very strange. for some reason i guess they really work well there, who would have guessed?

Yann posted 8 months ago

no agata, we're gonna take a trip to all the cupcake places! it'll be like bar-hopping with a sugar high (by the end of it, we might look like hobbes).

re: the Wii article... I have to say, go CMU! This reminded me that two of the biggest stars of the Wii Hacker world come straight from that familiar place.

hehe. Once when I was little I wrote a letter to Post begging them to actually make Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs.

They sent me an apologetic reply and a box of Honey Comb for my trouble.

dozen, in squirrel hill, has a handmade sign with the same message in their store. you can catch the bottom of it in this shot.

also, this picture is so cute.

johnny cupcakes has got some rad shirts. i like the air jordan parody. it's kinda sad... my brother only knows him as an underwear salesman.

onny posted 8 months ago

AHHH I <3 INSTANTRIMSHOT.

dude I can't wait to cupcake hop. How do we make those tshirts? does pmode own a screenprinter?

also there is a johnny cupcake store down the street from the office up here on newbury. when it was being built everyone was all excited that a new cupcake place was being built. then when it finally opened, everyone took a big trip down there only to find out...no cupcakes, just clothes. so they had to play it all cool, until they got outside, where they let their extreme, livid anger out. my coworker who wears steel-toed boots regularly dented a mailbox with a KICK OF PISSED-NESS.

goes to show you...cupcake clothes <<<<< cupcakes.

Ha! Zach, is that really a true story?

eli.pousson posted 8 months ago

yup! I also wrote to Paul Newman (yes, the actor) praising him for his brand of salad dressings, "Newman's Own." His people sent me a poster that I never hung up.
