aaw shucks.
i just got another grant! woo! through this program:
http://www.nesta.org.uk/starter-for-6-participants/
(i'm last (but not least) on the list)
that means i can survive for a few more months! life is grand!
so, um, smart people, i got a question...
how are they making this huge suite of web apps now? is there some different framework or something that makes this easier to build than it was, i dunno, a year or two ago?
after apple shipped core image, it made making image manipulation apps easier and we saw a boatload of "photoshop lites" like pixelmator, etc. the presentation app that i linked to yesterday is built on top of a framework that those guys developed called "cappucino".
so... what's new? how can these guys claim to ship what google hasn't shipped yet (a decent set of web-based productivity apps)? what is adobe doing with all their manpower? what is it that i'm not getting?
thanks!
Sa-weet news Yann. I'm proud it's earmarked onto my lesser post!
onny:
I'm not smart enough to know the answer to that, but I've got 5 invites if you wanna look see. Only the image editor and pattern maker are available to me.
It's well done, but I'm disappointed. Then again, I'm comparing it to the CS3 master suite.
congratulations yann!
danny, jon told me yesterday that it has to do with advances in Flash 9. i wouldn't mind an invite if you've got spares, but if someone is really clamoring to get on the service, give them first dibs. thanks!
i would love to see the audio app they've got going there...i've got a one track mind. or maybe a two track mind. or maybe an octophonic mind. or a wavefield synthesis mind.
heh, audio jokes.
onny, lemme know where to point this invitation. hopefully we'll all get different application privileges....
