that speech was forceful and attacking... i'm not sure how connected most people are with this race--i follow it pretty closely. i'm imagining that if this was the first obama speech you watched, you'd be a bit taken aback. why is he so angry?? anyway, here's the whole 45 minute thing, in case you missed it:

all the convention speeches are archived on the dem convention youtube channel. if you have interest, i'd recommend the bill clinton speech and the kerry speech. they were pretty great. also, kucinich says true stuff, but delivers it while hopping up and down and ends his speech with a unintentionally comic flourish.

re: her kid's names, apparently they are named after witches from buffy and charmed.

also, according to nielsen, more people watched obama than the opening ceremony or the final american idol or the oscars. 38 million people, not counting PBS and CSPAN. Kerry had 20 million. we watched on the internet, so were definitely not counted in the total.

Re: Possibility of Obama seeming very angry to a completely fresh set of ears/eyes... The interns at our office are listening to Sean Hannity (heh) as they work in the shop. I just heard Hannity proselytizing about how bitter, spiteful and downright uninspiring Obama sounded. "And we're to believe he's like Apollo, coming down from the heavens to chastise America!!!"

I dont think Obama seems angry. To me he seems motivated and determined and strong.

Three characteristics that Kerry and Gore were criticized for lacking, which ultimately may have been their downfall.
