woah. that is awesome. worth a read when i am time-ful.

in the same vein - Charlie and I watched Silent Running last night, the cult scifi movie from the 70s that inspired MST3k. it is AMAZING. so pure of heart, so earnest, so overacted... the sets are ridiculous. some of it is SO GOOD (it was an "indie movie", made after Easy Rider's success, so they went for the scope of like, Planet of the Apes, for $1mill), and some is so corny. eg. the ship's main deck had just tons of completely unaltered editing consoles displaying a test pattern.

it also has adorable robots.

Ashley, I haven't seen the original, but I saw the early 90's remake: "Cool Runnings." The robots in the remake look and act way different, though. Perhaps, they were influenced by the aliens in "Buckaroo Bonzai?" Not sure... Maybe it is just better special effects.

Netflix has "Silent Runing" which is a documentary about how Stonehenge was built by Viking robots sent back from the future.

The vegetables in my kitchen are adapting that movie into a play. It's currently in rehearsal, but should open soon as "Silent Ruining."
